The following list is compiled of Netherlands based organisations offering legal and emotional support to LGBTQIA+ people who have experienced or are experiencing discrimination and violence.

Roze in blauw (Dutch):

Police network for the LGBTQI+ community. The website is in Dutch, so the only available translation tool is Google Translate. Contact information for their units across the country is available. The department was initiated specifically to make it easier for LGBTQIA+ people to take the step to notify the police of discrimination and violence against LGBTQIA+ people. It’s possible to contact them directly and they can also offer meditation in certain cases.

LGBT Asylum Support (Dutch and English):


Organisation that provides support for LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers. It is an online platform that allows for complaints of discrimination to be filed.

Transgender Netwerk (Dutch):

Organisation that offers support for trans people experiencing discrimination and violence. The website is in Dutch, so the only available translation tool is Google Translate. It is possible to contact them directly via phone and email and this service is available in English.

COC Netherlands (Dutch and English):


LGBTQI+ network. “The COC is active in many areas, with an emphasis on young & school, 50plus, (political) advocacy, safety, culture & religion and international advocacy. COC Nederland is a federation of regional member associations; so there is always a COC near you.”

Switchboard (Dutch and English):


“Switchboard is the information and support service for the lesbian, gay, bi and transgender community in the Netherlands. We provide a listening ear, comforting words, information on coming out, sexual identity, gender identity, LGBT cultural, social and sport clubs and events and service providers as lawyers, doctors, therapists.”

Stichting Maruf (Dutch):


Maruf is an organization for queer Muslims, they are backed by the ministry of education and CoC Nederland and are a part of the European queer Muslim network. They offer different programmes that include support for queer refugees, lectures, activities and a queer Muslim empowerment programme.

Stichting Colored Qollective (Dutch and English):

Stichting Colored Qollective is a Dutch organisation that focuses specifically on the position and safety of LGBTQIA+ people. They organise monthly 'safe space meetings' in the form of group meetings and social events. In addition, they offer a physical, safe place for people who (may) experience multiple forms of exclusion and oppression.
